Jimin ZhaoProfessor, group leader

Introduction：Prof. Zhao obtained his bachelor’s degree from Department of Physics, Tsinghua University in 1995. He got the master’s degree in Tsinghua University in 1998. He graduated from University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) in 2004 with a Ph.D. degree in physics. From 2004 to 2006, he worked at Iowa University as a postdoc. In January 2007, he joined the Institute of Physics CAS. He was appointed as associate researcher, researcher, Ph.D. student advisor, etc. His major research area is “ultrafast optical spectroscopy of quantum materials”. He studies the ultrafast dynamics of superconductivity, strongly correlated materials, topological materials, etc.

Faran ZhouAssociate Professor

Introduction：Prof. Zhou obtained his bachelor’s degree from School of Physics, Nankai University in 2012. He graduated from Michigan State University with a Ph.D. degree in physics in 2019. From 2020 to 2022, he worked at Argonne National Laboratory as a postdoc. In September 2022, he joined the Institute of Physics CAS as an associate researcher. He mainly utilizes ultrafast optical spectroscopy, ultrafast electron diffraction, and ultrafast electron diffraction to study the ultrafast dynamics of charge, spin, and lattice degrees of freedom. His research interest is to study the coupling of multiple degrees of freedom, light-induced phase transitions, light-induced hidden quantum states.
